Portrait of Caspar van Kinschot (1622-1649)
Gerard ter Borch
c.c.1646 - 1647
In 1647, Ter Borch was in the German city of Münster, where peace talks were being held. He painted portraits of the negotiators. Caspar van Kinschot was the youngest of the Dutch delegation. His youth is emphasised by his fashionable long hair and collar. The portrait is small, so that it could be taken back to The Hague easily.
