The Mauritshuis owns three paintings
by Vermeer: Diana and her Nymphs, View of Delft and Girl with a Pearl
Earring. They are recognisable by their tranquil atmosphere, simplicity and
subtle rendering of light. Here the Vermeers hang among similar depictions: the
sober architectural pieces of Saenredam and scenes of rich interiors with
beautiful, young women.
